A trio of Westby runners found homes in the top ten at Tuesday's Westby invite, leading to a team title.
Addison Evenstad, Odessa Huebner and Molly Hamilton all finished their five kilometer home course in 21 minutes, 25 seconds or less on Sept. 22.
Evenstad's time of 20:38.2 was third overall in a field of 78 runners.
The Westby senior wasjust under a minute behind race winner, Taylor Laufenberg of Melrose-Mindoro (19:49.5) and just over ten second behind Viroqua's Angela Diehl who was second (20:27.2).
Huebner's time of 21:05.5 and Hamilton's finish of 21:25.3 earned each a respective sixth and ninth place finish.
The Norsemen, which moved up to second place in this week's cross country coaches rankings, had its next three runners finish within 20 seconds of each other.
Mckenna Jothen (21:49.9), Hannah Hagen (21:57.8) and Alica Amundson (22:12.1) helped round out the scoring runners and then some. The trio placed 14-16, respectively.
Westby's team score of 36 was 24 better than second place La Crosse Central (60). Viroqua was third with 94 points.
BOYS
Adam Steiner placed 46th in the boys race with a time of 19:57.9. Steiner race his home course with a 6:26 mile pace.
Simon Portner (20:07.3) was 49th overall and second among WHS runners.
Will Mayer (51, 20:15.3), Eli Tuszynski (60, 20:59.3) and Kendell Hanson (64, 21:35.3) helped finish up the scoring runners. Westby's team was 11th with 264 points scored.
Hillsboro's Dominic Kirkpatrick won Tuesday's meet with a time of 17:04.8 followed by G-E-T's Adrian Bautista (17:15.8).
Iowa-Grant's boys claimed the team title with a 65 point total followed by G-E-T with just 73. La Crosse Central (91) was third and Viroqua (113) fourth.
