The Eagles welcomed Wonewoc-Center as the two squads looked to start on the right side of the league title chase.

The Wolves started with a narrow 25-23 win in set one, then were outdueled in the second as the home team pinned a 25-19 victory to their ledger.

Wonewoc-Center responded in the third with a push that produced a 25-17 victory. The final set went the visitor's way as well.

"(The) first match went well and the kids played hard," said Cashton first year head coach Lauren Fanning. "They never gave up."

Senior Aubri Schaldach was recognized for reachgin the 500 career digs milestone before the game.

The W-C team joins Bangor, Brookwood and Hillsboro in starting Scenic Bluffs play 1-0. Bangor and Brookwood swept New Lisbon and Necedah, respectively last week. Hillsboro outlasted Royall 3-2 last Thursday.
