CHS's 'Mom's Casserole' to open for nationally touring bands

Cashton High School’s rock band “Mom’s Casserole” will be hitting the stage next Thursday for an experience few music students get to have.

The newly-formed musical group of teenagers will open for two nationally touring bands known as Poet The Band and The Almas. Cashton is the first stop on their Dying Poets Tour, which kicks off at  Cashton Community Hall on April 23.

“Our students are looking forward to putting on a live performance in a more real-world setting,” said Cashton band director Matt Muraski. “I don’t think the full weight of the event will hit them until they experience it first hand.”

Cashton’s rock band class started earlier this school year as a new elective.

“The music department was given an opportunity to expand our elective offerings and we were trying to come up with an idea of something truly unique” said Muraski.

The concert is sponsored by the Cashton Fine Arts Boosters with support from the father-son duo of Brian and Gavin Anderson of ThunderBox Sound & Light.

The event is tobacco and alcohol free and is geared towards students in 8th though 12th grade, but adults are welcome.

Tickets purchased in advance are $10 for general admission or $15 for VIP seating. Price goes up $5 at the door if purchased the day of.

Muraski says to expect a night of “very high quality modern rock music”.

The concert runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are available by Venmo (@cashtonfineartsboosters).
