Tornado touches down near Tomah

Shortly after 4pm on Wednesday June 15th, a tornado was reported east of Tomah, Wisconsin.

The Tornado appears to have traveled northeast from Hwy 131 and County Hwy A for about 15 miles before leaving Monroe County north of Shennington. The tornado took down multiple trees, powerlines, and barns. There was widespread power outage and damage to a number of homes as well. Multiple semis were blown over onto their sides causing I90 to be shut down for more than 3 hours.

Miraculously, no deaths or major injuries have been reported.

We ask that people avoid the area as many roads remain impassible and crews are out working diligently to get them back open.

Further information will be provided in the coming days as we continue to assess the impact and damage caused by this event.
