The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that seriously injured a Sparta man.

On June 14, 2022, the Monroe County 911 Communication center received a call that a subject had sustained an accidental, self-inflicted, gunshot wound to his mouth.

Emergency personnel responded to the home in the Township of Angelo and rendered aid to the man. He was transported by Sparta Ambulance and then taken to La Crosse by GundersenAir due to his injuries.
