On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at approximately 10:17 a.m., officers from the Sparta Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 100-block of Jefferson Avenue for an unresponsive person. Upon the arrival of law enforcement and emergency medical personnel found 32-year-old Sara Latimer of Sparta deceased.

There has been a heavy police presence in the area throughout the day. An investigation continues; however we are confident there is no threat to the public.
