For a few years we had a garden in the back corner of the back yard. It wasn’t a large plot by any definition, but it started with a small strawberry patch and expanded slightly to accommodate a salsa garden that included tomatoes, hot peppers, green peppers, and onions. From there it grew to include room for a few rows of green beans.

For many years the main focus of the garden was to keep the weeds and the birds out of the strawberries. The rest of it simply needed minimal tendin...
