David James Francis Cummings

David James Francis Cummings, passed from this life to the next on September 5,2021 at the home of his brother in Overland Park, Kansas of heart failure.

Dave was born to Roger W. and Irene L. (Hogan) Cummings on November 29, 1955. He was the 4th of 8 children. Dave received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion, and Confirmation at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Greeley, IA. Graduating from Maquoketa Valley Schools in 1973. After graduating David went on to do what he loved best, construction.

David married on November 8, 1975, at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, IA, later divorcing. Two sons came from this union, Matthew, and Nathan Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his two sons, Matthew (Tara Ervolina) Cummings, Nathan Cummings, and 3 grandchildren in the state of New York. Along with his siblings, Roger T (Shari) of Cashton, WI, Terese (Pat) Slattery of Middle Ridge, WI, Cecile (Kurt) Gregory of Waterloo, WI, Joe (Donna) Cummings of Overland Park, KS, Mark (Sue) Cummings of Cashton, WI, Tom (Cheryl) Cummings of Cashton, WI, and Mary (Bill) Turner of Gays Mills, WI. Along with many nieces, nephews, friends & neighbors.

David was known as “Buckeye” in his early years, later becoming “Uncle Dave” to many. His funeral mass was offered by Fr. Bijou in Middle Ridge, WI March 25th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he was a parish member. Cremains interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Greeley, IA in the family plot, on April 9 at 10AM with Deacon Jim Steger officiating.
