Shaun William Schmitz
November 23, 2021

Shaun William Schmitz, 42, of Westby, WI, passed away in his sleep Monday, November 15, 2021, at his home. Shaun was born October 19, 1979, to Scott Schmitz and Robyn Ripley.
Shaun was a 1998 graduate of Cashton High School. Over the years he worked at various jobs in the area in welding and fabrication. Shaun was currently working as a line haul driver at XPO Logistics and had found a job he enjoyed and was the proudest of how it provided for his family.
Shaun loved the people in his life with his whole heart. As a child he was precocious and was always game for an adventure on the farm with his cousins. That sense of adventure carried on though out his life with road trips, camping, and UTV rides. He had a personality that was larger than life and a great laugh. He was clever and knew how to make you laugh with his one liners and sharp wit. Many hilarious conversations were enjoyed with Shaun around the campfire over the years by so many. He was always willing to help if you were in need and had many talents. He also had a softer side and loved heart to heart talks with his mom about life and family. He was a car enthusiast and Dukes of Hazzard fan and always wheeling and dealing on some car or toy. Over the past several years he has gone on many adventures with his love Jessica, her children and Deagan and this meant so much to him.
Shaun is survived by his significant other, Jessica Hanson; Shaun's son, Deagan Duane Schmitz; mom, Robyn and Brian Leis; dad, Scott and Sue Schmitz; siblings, Larry (Adam Mormann) Schmitz, Joshua Leis, Heather (Steve) Flock, Tiffany (Darrick) Thurston, and Cody (Morgan) Leis; grandparents, Donna (Norman) Janzen, Bea Schmitz, and Carol Leis; Jessica's children, Jarren Schroeder and Alexis Stellick; Jessica's Dad, Kelvin (Tammy) Hanson; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lot of good friends. Shaun leaves a very large hole in many lives and will be dearly missed. We will keep the memories close and his spirit alive with stories of him.
Shaun was preceded in death by his grandparents, Duane Schmitz, Lawrence Ripley, Mary and LeRoy Gronemus, and Harvey Leis; along with his uncle, Mike Schmitz and Aunt Jan Schmitz.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Burial will follow in the Leon Cemetery.
