Jerry Von Ruden

Jerry Von Ruden, 82, of Warrens, WI, formerly of La Crosse, WI, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at Marinuka Mannor Care Center in Galesville, WI.

Jerry was born June 27, 1939, to Raymond and Lila (Calhoun) Von Ruden, in Cashton, WI. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served from 1958-1962. On June 12, 1965, he married his sweetheart, Nancy Munro. They were married at the St. Thomas More Church in La Crosse, WI. Together they loved going to Danceland and listening to music.

He loved working on the farm and was a dairy farmer for many years while Jerry's other career was working with metal sign fabrication at Metalix in Brice Prairie. Going on fishing trips to Chetek, Potato Lake, on the Mississippi River and on Lake Onalaska was one of his favorite pastimes. It wasn't certain if it was the fishing that he enjoyed, or the fact that it was a good opportunity to have a cold beer with family and friends. But Jerry's best times were on weekends when he came back to Cashton to help on the farm. He was a wonderful husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle who will be missed by many.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy of Warrens; son, Will Von Ruden of La Crosse, WI, his children, Hannah (Friend, Michael Abraham) Von Ruden of Eau Claire and, Jacob; daughter, Heidi (Tracy) Parr of Warrens and children, Jarret (Fiancé Abigail Wagner) Parr, and Jackson Parr; siblings, Jack (Sandy) Von Ruden of Cashton, Linda (Claude) Nevin of Sparta, Gene (Jackie) Von Ruden of Westby, Dan (Connie) Von Ruden of GA, Tom (Sally) Von Ruden of Tomah, Al (Roxanne) Von Ruden of Westby, and Judy Mashak of Sparta; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lila; and a niece, Jennifer Lee Cessna.

A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and concluding at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors at The Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Burial will take place at a later date at the Saint's Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pine Hollow.
