Orval Edward Scharping

Orval Edward Scharping, 92, of Cashton, WI, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, August 21, 2021. Orval was born on the home farm, in the town of Clinton, February 27, 1929, to Edward and Elsie (Lueck) Scharping. He attended Clinton Ridge School.

Orval grew up farming and chose to make that his life-long job. He married Bernadine Schaub on September 10, 1960, and together they raised two sons on the farm. Orval and Bernadine loved to listen to old time music and in their younger years attended dances at the Concordia Ballroom in La Crosse. After retiring from a life of farming and moving into town, Orval and Bernadine loved long drives together which usually found them exploring the beautiful valleys around the Cashton area.

Orval is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernadine; two sons and their families: Dennis (Sheila) Scharping and children, Zachary (Ashley) and daughter, Blakely, and Cecelia (fiancé Chris Friedman); and David (Kathy) Scharping and children, Sierra (Austin) Stoikes and daughter Brexley, Dylan (Kayla) and Mandi (fiancé Jake Steiger); sisters, Dorothy Will, Donna Urbanek, Janet Dunnum and Ardice (Vernon) Urbanek; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Louise Scharping; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Orval was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Verna Marx, Ardella Role, Verdel Scharping and Vernon Scharping; and brothers-in-law, Art Marx, Ellsworth Role, Neil Will, Ronald Dunnum, Clinton Dunnum, and Jim Urbanek.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor, WI. Pastor Brock Groth will officiate. Burial will follow in the German Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cashton. Family and friends are invited for visitation Tuesday, August 24, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Visitation will also be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
