Betty Jane Weber
July 28, 2021
Betty Jane Weber, 83, of Sparta, passed away July 22, 2021, at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, on June 17, 1938, to Anton and Paulina (Schaub) Weber.
As a young child, the family moved to Germany. Later, some of the family chose to return to the United States, the young children moving in with their grandparents on their St. Mary's Ridge farm. They attended school at St. Mary's Ridge Catholic School and graduated from Cashton High School. Betty remained on the farm being a homemaker, farmhand, and a caregiver to many, while being an active member of St. Mary's Church, and hostess to many Schaub family reunions.
When the farm was sold, she retired to Sparta with her uncles and brother, continuing the caregiver role, and joining St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Choir. She worked for several years at Carlisle Sanitary Maintenance Products. Betty did enjoy several trips to sites in the US and to Germany, to visit with family that continued to live there.
Betty is survived by her siblings, Leo Weber and Richard (Erna) Weber of Germany, Alfrieda (John) Dunnick of Mt. Tabor, Rudy Weber of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton Weber and Paulina (Schaub) Weber-Zinke; step-father, Emil Zinke; grandparents, Leo and Anna Schaub, Anton and Maria Weber; siblings, Anna Ewelt, Robert and Gerald Trescher, Emila (Kurt) Striedacher; sister-in-law, Lisa Weber; brother-in-law, Lynn Nelson; nephew, Hanse Weber; uncles, Raymond and Edward Schaub; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Betty's family is grateful for all who, in so many ways, helped her in recent years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at St. Patrick's Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Ridge Catholic Cemetery, rural Cashton.
