Week of Friday, July 27, 1951

The Kickapoo Valley was ravaged by flood over the weekend, and a family of six was wiped out by a flash flood at Springville near Viroqua.

A fine black horse owned by Dick Langan was out on highway 33 Monday night and was struck by a car and had its leg broken.

Week of Friday, July 28, 1961

Sealed bids are being asked by the Portland Center school board for the cooking, transportation and cleaning for the Portland Center School.

American Oil company has placed an order for 23 million road maps, the largest map order ever received by Rand McNally & Company, the nation’s largest map maker.

Week of Thursday, July 29, 1971

Donkey softball will return to Cashton on August 15 as the Townsmen take on the Farmers the will be more run than a “barrel of Monkeys.”

The Cashton High School athletics dental and physical examinations will be held Thursday, August 5th at the Westby Clinic.

Week of Wednesday, July 29, 1981

The Frog Town Sports Club has a full weekend planned for the 4th Annual Frog Days in Melvina this Friday.

Henry Laufenberg of Cashton won $100 worth of gasoline in a drawing at the Monroe County Fair. Monroe County Insurance Agency’s, Kent Vaaler presented the check.

Week of Wednesday, July 31, 1991

David and Christine Huntzicker of Cashton will be among the families receiving Century Farm and Home Awards at the Wisconsin State Fair next week.

There will be a marching band rehearsal on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. This is an important rehearsal and everyone is expected to attend.

The Cashton Community Club announced Korean War Veterans will be honored as Parade Marshals at this year’s Fall Festival.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to town August 5, sponsored by the Cashton Lions Club.

The 19th Annual Corn Boil and Chicken Q will be held July 31 at N0rth Coon Prairie Church. Music will be provided by Buddy Rundhaugen.
