Even before the pandemic, the rock and roll band I have been in since around 1989 was slowing down from the years of playing three or four gigs a month. Slowing down might be an understatement, though, because we were down to three or four gigs a year. And each time we played the layoffs were starting to show.

I’ve been playing drums since I was 13 years old. I started back then taking lessons at the local music center in downtown Sparta. But the rust has been setting in for a while...
