Week of Friday, February 16, 1951
This year’s March of Dimes polio drive in Cashton brought in a total of $322.46, topping last years total by almost $80.
Sunday’s warm weather and the Showflake junior ski meet brought hundreds to Timber Coulee to watch the activities on the Dahlen hill. Perhaps it wasn’t the best skiing weather, but the youngsters made a lot of swell jumps.

Lead characters for the junior class play “Green Valley” are played by Ronald Lee, Mavis Larson, Kent Vaaler, Roy Einer, and Darlene Wavra.
Frank King, a native of Cashton, started his “Skeezix” character on the comic page 40 years ago this week.

As director of astronaut activities for NASA, Deke Slayton, a native of Leon and graduate of Sparta High School, makes the important decision as to who goes where in space.
High single-game scorer for the men at Parkview bowling alley in Cashton was Doug Jefson who rolled a 256. Charlene Pederson led the ladies, bowling a 211.

Another suspected Measles case has been reported in Monroe County, from the Wilton area.
The Eagle gymnasts team won top honors at the Lancer Invitational Meet at La Crescent recently. Jean Leis won top individual honors with 5 medals. Other medal winners were Jody Larson and Cindy Dahl.

On Friday, Feb. 18, through Saturday, Feb 19, the Cashton Music Department will be hosting a lock-in at the elementary school for 9-12 grade students.
Cashton residents enjoyed the beautiful weather on Sunday while attending the Cashton community Club’s Skate Party at the Cashton park.
