James Mack, 92, of Summit Ridge (Norwalk) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Jim was born on April 5, 1928 and attended Oak Grove School and Bohn School.
He served in the Korean War and on June 11, 1955 married Barbara (Bohn) at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. Jim and Barb were blessed with eight children and were lifelong dairy farmers on Summit Ridge. Jim worked part time for many years on the Town of Wells road crew, a job he enjoyed in all seasons. Jim also enjoyed reading, driving out West, all kinds of projects, and fishing trips with longtime friends to Moose Lake, WI. He loved learning new things and meeting new people, staying current with the world and with younger generations as he got older. Jim was always ready with a joke and a smile and was a humble and grateful man who got a lot of enjoyment from the small things in life and from the people around him. He will be greatly missed.
Jim was preceded in death by siblings Stanley Mack, Bill Mack, Ormie Mack, and Jean Meltesen; brother-in-law Paul Nevin; sister-in-law Yvonne Mack; and sister- and brother-in-law Betty and Kenny Muehlenkamp.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; sister Joan Nevin; children Jane (Dave) Clark, Steve (DeDe) Mack, John (Karen) Mack, George (Carolyn) Mack, Richard Mack, Mary (Scott) Geisler, Rose (Lloyd) Krieger, and Sara Mack (Stephen Kellert); and many loving grand-children and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John's Summit Catholic Church. Father Eric Berns will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials preferred to Saint John's Catholic Church and Mayo Clinic LaCrosse Hospice Program.
