Julian Wesley Peterson
November 11, 2020
Julian Wesley Peterson, 86, of rural Cashton, WI, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, November 9, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. Julian was born June 3, 1934 to Selma Miller, in West Salem, WI.
After graduation from high school he was drafted in the US Army, he was active from 1956-1958. On February 20, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Darlene Hanson. They were married in the Portland Lutheran Parsonage in Cashton. Julian worked 42 years at the Metalix Corporation in Bryce Prairie.
Julian and Darlene raised their family in the Onalaska area. 15 years ago they moved back "home" to rural Cashton. He was happy to have his children and grandchildren around to play cards, shake dice, hit a round of croquet, and shoot pool or to play any game that was suggested. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Retiring in his little paradise gave Julian time to spend fishing local streams and lakes, a pastime he loved doing. He had a lot of cats that wandered into his yard that he was able to tame and spend time with him and his beloved dog Rudy. Julian's faith was strong and steadfast at Portland Lutheran Church where he served as a council member. He will be dearly missed.
Julian is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darlene; three children, Julene F. (Greg) Lawson, Gregory A. (Pam) Peterson, and Brian J. (Julie) Peterson; grandchildren, Amanda Knudtson, Crystal Bauer, Emily Oyer, JoAnne Peterson, Melissa Chatham, Joshua Peterson; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carol Crawford and Alfrieda Degenhardt; brother-in-law, David Peterson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Julian was preceded in death by his mom, Selma and step-father, George Miller; sister, Sadie Marten, brother, Lawrence Caulumn; brothers-in-law, Henry Degenhardt and Dan Crawford; sister-in-law, Beverly Peterson; and his faithful dog, Rudy.
