Exhibit on Cuban refugees at Ft McCoy in 1980 to close Oct 17

In October 1980, the last 923 adult Cuban refugees were transferred from the Fort McCoy Refugee Resettlement Center to the refugee center in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Afterwards, what remained of the once 14,000+ Cuban refugee population at Fort McCoy were 170 juveniles. These unaccompanied minors would ultimately be transferred to Wyalusing State Park in Prairie du Chien and then placed in foster homes.
