Cashton Cross Country… new opportunity, same teams

September 30, 2020

The 2020 Cashton Cross Country season has meant a schedule involving just a few courses and mainly the Scenic Bluffs Conference schools. On Thursday, September 24 the Eagles traveled to New Lisbon for the first ever Kennedy Classic at Kennedy County Park. All of the Bluffs schools competing this fall were in attendance.

The boys finished third with 54 points. Brookwood had 29, New Lisbon 50, and Hillsboro scored 83. Necedah and Royall were incomplete. The Eagle girls defeated Brookwood 19-38; the remaining schools had incomplete teams.

Jarret Carpenter won the boys race with an impressive time of 15:38. That is the fastest 5000-meter time in program history. His performance was just the start for the Eagles; each boy ran their fastest time of the season. Carson Hayes finished ninth in 18:32, Jackson Hilden was 13th (19:36), Kaleb Klinkner was 15th (19:49), Colton Lee finished 22nd (20:51), Gabe Von Ruden was 31st (23:05), and Jeremiah Woolhouse finished 32nd (23:11).

Izzi Mason finished second with a time of 21:17, Alyssa Meyers was third (22:06), Annie Schreier finished sixth (22:14), Chelsie Paulsen was seventh (22:19), Kate Gronemus finished ninth (22:26), Paige Hoeft was 13th (23:53), Carly Butzler finished 14th (24:18), and Bonita Hanley was 17th (25:02). Every girl ran their fastest time of the season and the 1-5 gap of 1:09 is the best on the season.

The middle school runners competed at Westby on the same day. The girls were team champions and the boys finished third. Mateya Kaduc (14:39) and Isabell Korn (14:45) finished 1-2 in the girls race. Parker Mlsna (14:34) and Brady Wells (14:49) finished sixth and eighth respectively in the boys race.

Aubrey Peterson was eighth (15:48), Kennedy Brown finished ninth (15:49), Makayla Gooselaw was 13th (16:08), Evelyn Weber finished 26th (17:46), Audrey Weber was 33rd (19:34), and Makena Hall finished 39th (21:27).

Luke Clements was 14th (16:35), Marshal Dunnum finished 23rd (18:43), and Klay Pedretti was 24th (18:48).

Both groups will be in the village park for their next races. The high school team will host a triangular on Thursday, October 1 with the boys racing at 4:45 and the girls at 5:30. On Friday, October 2 the rest of the schools in the conference will attend a middle school meet that has a girls race at 4:30 and a boys race at 5:00.
