Country cross placed as reminder of those around the world who have died alone in hospitals as pandemic continues to claim lives


A large cross now stands at a crossroads. It was a group effort, including help from Cashton Building Supply, as John Hemmersbach placed the cross in memory of those who have died alone in hospitals around the world.

A cross being erected on the John and Karen Hemmersbach farm on County U, near the Jefferson Town Shop, holds special meaning, and is inspired by the devastation being caused by the global pandemic. The cross, John said, is in memory of all those who have died alone in hospitals all around the world, including an uncle. His uncle, he said, did not die from Covid 19, but he did die alone because visitors were not allowed in.
