Week of Friday, March 31, 1950

Cashton was second in percentage of tax payments in Monroe County. Wilbert Schroeder, village treasurer, recently made his returns to the county treasurer, L. H. Larson totaling 98.83 percent of the total tax for of $36,284.

The Red Menace, Canon City, Roll Thunder Roll, Any Number Can Play and Undercover Man are showing at the Westby Theater.

Week of Friday, April 8, 1960

Mrs. Thelma Mydland and her fourth grade pupils visited the Creamery and th election headquarters Tuesday morning. The voting procedure was explained to them at the polls.

The Norwalk-Ontario School District will go ahead with plans for a proposed new high school building without delay.

Leighton Lee, David Flickinger, Marie Peterson, Mary Hjermstad, and Ronald Lee will compete at the State Solo-Ensemble competition at Madison.

Week of Thursday, April 2, 1970

Cashton High School will present the all-school play “Rest Assured” at 8:15 p.m. April 11 in the high school gymnasium.

Patti Spears, Mary Degenhardt, Suzy Chalupnik, Pat Von Ruden, Diane Leis, Jacki Miller and Diane Rumppe represented Cashton High School at the State Gymnastics Meet held at Whitewater State University.

Week of Wednesday, April 2, 1980

The Girls Scouts annual Easter Egg Hunt was another huge success this year at the Cashton village park. About 100 area children were present for the activities, which included an egg hunt and games.

The “Monster Arm Wrestling Tournament” will be held at Parkview Lanes and Supper Club in Cashton on April 9.

Farm residents make up about 3 percent of the country’s population. In 1920 the figure was 30 percent.

Week of Wednesday, April 4, 1990

Organized on April 12, 1890,Immanuel Lutheran Church will be celebrating its 100th year. The church was started by 50 families who emigrated to the United States fro Norway.

The sophomore class will again be planning a post-prom activity after this year’s prom, after last year’s successful event drew more than 100 high school students. Everyone is excited about this year’s project.

Week of Wednesday, March 29, 2000

On a cold and windy afternoon the Cashton Softball team overcame the weather as well as the Kickapoo Panthers in route to a 9-4 opening season win.

Ruth Chrzanowski will be celebrating her 100th birthday with an open house on Saturday, April 8th, at Bethany Riverside nursing home in La Crosse.

Tim and Deb Hundt, owners of Badger Crossing in Cashton, helped raise money for the Miss Cashton

Pageant by hosting a special “Tip Night”.

Sarah Gronemus, Cory Headrick, Brittany Meyers, Amelia Korn, Sonia Cummings, Lexi Schroeder and Courtney Geier are named to the National Honor Society.
