Helen Julia Anderson


Helen Julia Anderson, 88, of Rockland, WI, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Caledonia Rehab and Retirement Home in Caledonia, MN.

Helen was born June 17, 1931, to Howard and Julia (Pederson) Davis, in the Town of Leon, WI. She was baptized at the Portland Lutheran Church, rural Cashton and Confirmed as an adult, June 10, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta, WI. Helen married Duane Anderson November 9, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran in Sparta.

Helen graduated from Sparta High School in 1949 and worked at the Bank of Sparta. She served as treasurer of the AAL Chapter and was a longtime Thrivent member. Helen was very involved helping with AAL fundraisers in the community.

Helen and Duane enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Arizona, Branson, Oklahoma and Massachusetts, were some of their favorite places. She and Duane were inseparable.

Helen belonged to Fish Creek Lutheran Church for all of her married life. She enjoyed helping on church dinners and the quilting circle. She stayed active with them until she was 80 years old.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Duane; three children, Gregory of Onalaska, David of Rockland, and James of Northfield, MN; along with many cousins and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 3, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at the Fish Creek Lutheran Church, Rockland, WI. Pastor David Sorenson will officiate. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Family and friends were invited for visitation Monday, March 2, 2020, 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI.
