Jimmie Earl Carroll
December 11, 2019
Jimmie Earl Carroll, 86, of Rockland, WI, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Jimmie was born November 2, 1933, to Everett and Ruby (Dunbar) Carroll in Bixby, OK. Jimmie was in the US Army for six years during the Korean War Conflict. While he was in the military he also worked as a prison guard at Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Jimmie met a girl from Sparta, WI, in Colorado Springs while he was in the Army. Three months later, he proposed to Janet Fish and on August 18, 1956, they were married in Raton, New Mexico. Jimmie worked for 30 plus years on the Conoco Pipeline in Oklahoma and Texas. One day he came home and told Janet that he was going to retire from the pipeline and move to Wisconsin and buy a dairy farm. His next question was, “are you coming with me?” In 1985 they packed up the kids and moved to a farm in Rockland.
The term “gift to gab” has a picture of Jimmie next to it. He was a person who was genuinely interested in whoever he was talking to. He loved his coffee and card sessions in Cashton and will be missed.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet; their children, Richard Carroll of Rockland, WI, Kevin (Chris) Carroll of Casper, WY, Jimmie (Melissa) Carroll Jr., of Rockland, WI, Krista (Darrell) Janzen of Sparta, WI, and Amber (Special Friend, Steve) Berg of Sparta, WI; sisters, Betty Clements and Ellen Wesley both of OK; Jimmie is also survived by many very special grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike), David, Lori Jo, Jessica (Mariano), Whitney (Ryan), Cody, Adalyn, Alexandria (Andrew), Emma, Isaac, Tatum, Jake, Stacey and Sean, and great grandchildren, Braxton, Sidney, Adrian, Tia, Isaiah, Nola, Kehlani, Ava, Aria, Kylie, Madi, Scarlet, Dyllen, Violet, Shawn and Kelcee; along with nieces, nephews, and good friends. He will be missed greatly by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Raymond in 2011 and Brian in 2014; brother, Raymond, who was killed in the Korean War; and a sister, Melvina (age 13); brothers-in-law, Larry Clements and Jim Wesley.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Montgomery Street, Sparta, WI.
