Celebrating June Dairy Days

Jolly Joiners making a difference for Cashton kids

In celebration of June Dairy Month, the Jolly Joiners 4-H Club is providing food for the Cashton Area Summer Lunch Program, and they are volunteering to prepare and serve it. “The Summer Lunch program, started by Pastor Amanda Schultz Garcia and Trinity, Bethany, and Immanuel Lutheran Churches, is a partnership between our community, the Cashton Cupboard and Closet and the Cashton School District. “It is awesome to have such support of our schools and dairy farmers,” said Pastor Amanda, “We are excited to be a part of June Dairy Days, and our kids get healthy, free lunches—what could be better?”

Emma Mason has been working with local farmers and organizations to acquire donations. A Wisconsin Farmers Organization donated cheese and yogurt. And Culver’s is donating custard on Friday for a special treat. “This is perfect for the dairy promotion! So much better than something that ticks boxes but doesn’t help anyone, Emma Mason said. I love that this way we can align with something really positive and make a real difference.”

The Summer Lunch Program serves a free sack lunch in the lobby of the Cashton Elementary School Monday-Friday through August 23 from noon-12:20 p.m. The School District Food Service offers free lunch to all kids five weeks of the Summer, and the lunch program takes care of the rest. Working together, all kids have access to lunch all summer long.
