A Fair Trade

I looked down at my wet hands. Wrinkles covered my fingertips. I had been washing eggs for hours. Would it never end? I was on my own. Millie had been busy scrubbing and waxing floors and I had been given orders not to drop any eggs on the floor. It was Saturday and that was house cleaning day. The linoleum covered floors had to be washed and waxed on hands and knees. We never knew who might show up for Sunday dinner so the house had to be spotless.
