Week of Friday, February 25, 1949

Carl & Jim Homstad of the Cashton Motor company announce that Monday, Feb. 28, will be open house at their new tractor and implement department located in the Schroeder building. Allen Webster is the mechanic in charge of the new division.

Monday night, Feb. 28, is the night of Cashton’s masquerade ball. Al Seidel and his orchestra will furnish music for the occasion and a gala time is assured.

Week of Friday, February 20, 1959

Monroe Johnson, Melvina farmer, was honored by the Sparta Junior Chamber of Commerce at the Sidney Hotel in Sparta Thursday night. He was cited as the outstanding young farmer of the year.

Ronald Melby, a University of Wisconsin student, played with the La Crosse Symphony orchestra Monday night in La Crosse.

Week of Friday, February 21, 1969

The 57th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Hansen was observed Friday evening, Feb. 14, at their home.

The Hegenbart twins opened La Crosse’s newest TV firm at 311 N. 3rd Street last Thursday. The firm, Coulee Color Television Co., is to handle Muntz television sets and combination sets of television, radio, and stereo. Both brothers, Vernal and Virgil, are graduates of Cashton High School.

Week of Wednesday, February 21, 1979

The winner of the Cashton American Legion oratorical Contest is Greg Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Anderson of Rockland. He is a senior at Cashton High School.

Snowball representatives for Cashton High School Snowball Dance include Paula Korn and Warren Weibel, Jo Anne Meyer and Brad Kirkeeng, Le Anne Lusk and Mike Hauser, Lori Lindner and Mark Brueggen, and Barb Haight and Mark Pederson. King and Queen are Bob Hansen and Linda Cash.

Week of Wednesday, February 22, 1989

Entertainers came in all sizes at the Talent Extravaganza last Sunday in Cashton. Anne Caulum did a pom pon routine and Miss Cashton, Brenda Neubauer, sang several songs.

The Cashton School District may be rid of any potentially dangerous asbestos as early as this spring. Most of the asbestos is located around pipes in infrequently occupied areas.

Week of Wednesday, February 24, 1999

The Eagles advanced two wrestlers to state and had two others place at sectionals. Winning individual titles and advancing to State were Mike Brueggen (112) and Nathan Ryan (189). Nick Schroeder, a state competitor a year ago, placed third at 130, and Tim Weibel captured a fourth place finish at 125.

Week of Wednesday, February 25, 2009

The Cashton Vet Clinic, Cashton, recently made a $882.59 donation to the Cashton FFA chapter. The donation was made possible by a Pfizer Animal Health program. Fro eligible purchases of Pfizer Animal Health cattle vaccines, a donation of 3 percent was made on behalf of Cashton Vet Clinic to the Cashton FFA chapter.

The Friends of the Library presented a check for $1,500 to the Cashton Memorial Library to go towards funding the Circulation and Horizon Program.
